DAVE MASON EXTENDS HIS ENDANGERED SPECIES TOUR 2023 WITH WEST COAST RUN OF DATES BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 7, CULMINATING WITH A PAIR OF ARIZONA PERFORMANCES IN OCTOBER INCLUDING A SHOW WITH THE STEVE MILLER BAND IN TUCSON ON OCTOBER 25

MARK STEIN, THE VOCALIST, KEYBOARDIST AND FOUNDER OF VANILLA FUDGE, TO JOIN THE DAVE MASON BAND FOR FORTHCOMING SHOWS AND BEYOND

Rock & Roll road warrior Dave Mason will be continuing his Endangered Species Tour throughout the end of October, performing fifteen shows in fourteen cities on the west coast beginning Thursday, September 7, in Salem, Oregon (see full itinerary below). The self-proclaimed “Road Dog” has been on the road for six decades and still enjoys playing his music for fans all over the world. “We are looking forward to this final run of 2023. There is nothing quite like performing live. I love it! Always have and always will!” exclaims the legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame musician, who co-founded the band Traffic.

Immediately joining Dave on tour as an integral part of the band will be Mark Stein, keyboard player and vocalist of the popular classic rock band, Vanilla Fudge. “Mark brings so much to the stage and to the music,” states Dave. “We’ve always enjoyed each other’s music and the chemistry really works. Traffic and Vanilla Fudge released their debut albums in the same year, so we rose up together in the same era. Watching and listening to Mark’s mastery of the Hammond B3 on stage will certainly add to an already special night of music. We can’t wait to get out there and perform for our fans.”

Mark is taking a hiatus from the band he co-founded more than fifty-five years ago and is looking forward to his adventures with Dave. “I’m excited to be creating some old and new magic with Dave and his awesome band,” says Stein, who will be joining longtime Dave Mason Band member Johnne Sambataro (guitar and vocals), Ray Cardwell (bass and vocals) and Marty Fera (percussion). This new lineup will perform Mason’s most beloved and iconic songs as well as tracks from Traffic and a few special surprises.

One thing’s for certain… it’ll be an evening full of great songs and classic hits.

Those that come out to witness the current Endangered Species Tour can likely expect to hear such well-known hits and affiliated songs as “All Along the Watchtower,” “Only You Know and I Know,” “Dear Mr. Fantasy,” “We Just Disagree” and the ever-so-popular rock anthem, “Feelin’ Alright,” along with the Vanilla Fudge classic, “You Keep Me Hanging On,” that will celebrate and feature the band’s newest member, Mark Stein.

It’s rare to find artists with such longevity and vitality from the 1960’s, much less two of them on stage together at the same time, performing some of the most iconic and enduring rock songs of all time. Some truly timeless classics. As Dave likes to say, “There are no old songs, only good songs.” Give the people what they want.

Best known for his soulful voice and unsurpassed guitar playing, Dave was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 as a founding member of the group Traffic and continues to perform as a solo artist with sold-out shows all over the world. Over his illustrious career, now spanning more than five decades, Dave has performed and recorded with such artists as the Rolling Stones (“Street Fighting Man”), Jimi Hendrix (“All Along the Watchtower”), George Harrison (All Things Must Pass album), Paul McCartney (“Listen to What the Man Said”), The Spencer Davis Group (“Gimme Some Lovin'”), Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Graham Nash, Fleetwood Mac, Delaney & Bonnie, Leon Russell, Cass Elliot and, of course, Steve Winwood among other music notables.

After seeing Hank Marvin of The Shadows perform with a shiny red Fender Strat in the early 60’s at the age of 15, Dave dreamed of having one of his own someday. That day came and the rest is Rock & Roll history as he co-founded Traffic just six years later and followed that stint with a tremendously successful solo career beginning with the release of his debut solo album, Alone Together, in 1970. That red Fender Stratocaster is still Dave’s guitar of choice today and he occasionally pays homage to Marvin by performing The Shadows hit, “Apache.” And just like Hank, Dave became a multi-instrumentalist. Guitar. Mellotron. Sitar. Tambura. Harmonica. Percussion. A man of many musical “hats” and truly an “endangered species.”

With a new book (“Only You Know & I Know”), a new Blues album and a supporting tour on the horizon, 2024 promises to be another exciting year for Dave Mason.

Yes, it’s glaringly apparent that the “Mystic Traveler” is still “Feelin’ Alright.”
