CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LEGENDARY LOU GRAMM AS TODAY, MARCH 8, MARKS THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RELEASE OF FOREIGNER’S SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM!

March 8, 2017

Congratulations to the legendary Lou Gramm as today, March 8, 2017 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Foreigner’s self-titled debut album… what an amazing album! In my humble opinion, it’s 38 minutes and 46 seconds of rock perfection.

Spawning the Top 20 singles, “Feels Like the First Time,” “Cold as Ice” and “Long, Long Way From Home,” it also contained such fan favorites as “Starrider,” “Headknocker” and “At War with the World.”

While a group by the name of Foreigner still exists, it should never be forgotten that Lou Gramm is, and always will be, the distinct and irreplaceable voice you hear on every single one of the hits from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. Sixteen top 30 hits. 80 million albums sold worldwide. There’s only one Lou.

LOS ANGELES, September 19, 2013 – 108 Rock Star Guitars by Lisa S. Johnson is the stunning new fine-art photography book featuring rare, up-close images of the guitars belonging to some of the world’s most iconic players, including Bruce Springsteen, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Ace Frehley, Slash, Billy Gibbons, Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Nancy Wilson and many more. The 396-page volume, bound in embossed red leatherette, includes nearly 500 photographs focusing on the wear and tear details — nicks, scratches, sweat stains, burn marks and personal adornments and modifications — that provide an extraordinary view of the artist’s personality and playing style.

108 Rock Star Guitars arrives in stores on October 8, 2013. To mark the occasion, The Cutting Room, one of New York’s premier music venues, will host a book signing and concert from 6 pm to 10 pm, also on October 8. The evening’s proceeds will benefit the Les Paul Foundation.

Books will be available for purchase at the venue. The regular edition (SRP: $108) includes a 16-page booklet with behind-the-scenes information on the book and one of three custom guitar picks featuring a holographic design. The deluxe, signed, limited edition (SRP: $540) includes the book, booklet, guitar pick and a hand-rolled purple chiffon silk scarf in a die-cut collector’s box.

Les Paul, the late, legendary musician and inventor, who is best known for his contributions to the early development of the solid body electric guitar and whose signature model Gibson is a favorite among rock’s elite, allowed Johnson — at the time a technical sales rep for Kodak — to photograph his guitar after one of his regular Monday night sets at the Iridium Jazz Club. That early shoot ultimately inspired the book, which took 17 years to complete. He wrote the book’s foreword a few months before he passed in 2009.

About 108 Rock Star Guitars and Lisa S. Johnson:

108 Rock Star Guitars is a compilation of photographer/author Lisa S. Johnson’s stunningly personal and intimate portraits of the cherished guitars
owned by the gods of rock. From the guitars of Les Paul to Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, Nancy Wilson to Sheryl Crow, Chrissie Hynde and many others, this ultra-lux, coffee table photo book reveals — through Johnson’s signature macrophotography style — the intimate details, etchings, totems, and personal touches that embody the true spirit of the musician and that few — save for their stage crew –have seen from this perspective. Alongside these images, she provides personal anecdotes describing her 17-year journey to photograph these iconic instruments and documents her travels from the backstage hallways of some the world’s most famous concert venues, to the artist’s private homes. The former Kodak representative showcases a variety of the last film stock ever manufactured for Kodak Professional and the transition to digital, in her exquisite homage to image and music. http://www.108RockStarGuitars.com.

CLASSIC ROCK MUSIC FESTIVAL ON THE HIGH SEAS
TO BENEFIT THE NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE ASSOCIATION
*********************************************************************************

On Thursday, January 10, 2013, thousands of rock fans are expected to board a luxury cruise vessel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that’ll be taking them to Labadee, Haiti for what promises to be the classic rock cruise of a lifetime.
Introducing the ROCK LEGENDS CRUISE II.

Here’s the rundown…

Approximately two-dozen artists will be performing multiple sets in at least three separate, easily accessible, venues over four days and four nights (think: “hours of greatest hits”).

One big classic rock festival at sea aboard 154,407 tons of fun known as Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas — one of the biggest, fastest and most luxurious passenger ships in existence, spanning over 1100 feet long.

One moment you’re by the pool basking in the sun and the next, you’re taking in live musical performances by some of your all-time favorite classic rock bands (see below for the incredible line-up in its entirety).

You and a few thousand other classic rock fanatics wonder, “How did I get here?” as you sing along to such rock anthems as “Feels Like The First Time,” “Can’t Get Enough,” “Up Around The Bend,” “Carry On Wayward Son,” “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” “Rocking into the Night,” “Can’t You See,” “Don’t Fear The Reaper,” “Fool For The City” and “Flirtin’ with Disaster.”

No, it’s not a dream, just the ultimate rock and roll getaway on the high seas — Rock Legends Cruise II — benefiting the Native American Heritage Association (NAHA).

So what if your voice is shot by Monday morning?

You just had the time of your life.

In addition to their musical performances, the artists will be mingling alongside fans during the four-day excursion.

“Didn’t I just see Artimus Pyle in line for the breakfast buffet?”

Just an idea of what’s in store…

Rock Legends Cruise II will depart Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida early Thursday evening (January 10, 2013), then dock in Labadee, Haiti (a secure, private resort leased, managed and operated by Royal Caribbean located on the north coast of Hispaniola) the following Saturday before returning to Fort Lauderdale on Monday morning, January 14, 2013.

In between the musical performances, passengers will be able to enjoy such on board activities as surfing (thanks to the ship’s FlowRider wave generator), volleyball, basketball, boxing, cantilevered whirlpools and a variety of gourmet restaurants and casual dining.

What a way to start off the new year!

Book your cabin now before they’re gone!

Most levels are still available including interior, ocean view, ocean view with balcony and a variety of suites, with pricing beginning at $1049.00 per person (double occupancy).

ABOUT THE NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE ASSOCIATION

The Native American Heritage Association has been working on reservations in South Dakota for more than 18 years and is a 4-star charity with www.charitynavigator.org for a total of eight years. Native American Heritage Association tractor trailers are on the road daily with supplies to the various far flung communities and 94% of the organization’s total revenue goes towards program services which provide basic life necessities, including fuel assistance and medical transportation to 90,000 people. Many of these residents face an 80% rate of unemployment; 70% don’t have transportation and many of those who do, don’t have the means to purchase gas. These Lakota Sioux live in abandoned school buses, shacks or government housing with no insulation, some live without indoor plumbing, in homes with dirt floors, no beds or furniture.
