ROCK LEGENDS CRUISE III – setting sail in February 2015 and benefiting the Native American Heritage Association – has just announced the additions of legendary shock rocker and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Alice Cooper along with the incomparable Paul Rodgers, who returns from Rock Legends Cruise II by popular demand.

“Cruising with my friends The Doobie Brothers and Mr. Cooper, in aid of those living below the poverty line who are assisted by the Native American Heritage Association, is a win-win situation,” states Paul Rodgers.

Thanks to Mr. Rodgers, it’s a more beautiful day in the neighborhood.

The two rock icons lead the latest wave of artists recently added that include Dave Mason’s Traffic Jam, The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet, Rik Emmett, Ten Years After and the Artimus Pyle Band (see currently confirmed line-up in its entirety below).

See your favorite artists not once, not twice, but maybe even three times!

The artists on board collectively boast over 50 Top 40 hits which doesn’t even include some of the songs that have become fan favorites.

ROCK LEGENDS CRUISE III will depart Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida early Thursday evening (February 19, 2015), then dock in Nassau, Bahamas the following Saturday (2/21/15) before returning to Fort Lauderdale on Monday morning, February 23, 2015.

In between the concerts, meet & greets, Q&A forums, and everything else “Rock Legends,” passengers will be able to enjoy such on board activities as surfing (thanks to the ship’s FlowRider surf simulator), basketball (full-sized court), boxing (full-sized ring), golf (mini course), rock-climbing (wall), cantilevered whirlpools and a variety of gourmet restaurants and casual dining.

“We’re looking forward to the Cruise and can’t wait to rock the night away with all of our fans.”
–Tom Johnston, The Doobie Brothers–

“I know all the members of BOC are looking forward to being part of the next Rock Legends Cruise in ’15. We really enjoyed the last one on so many levels, playing, hanging with our friends in the other bands and having a great way to interact with our fans. We got our first break in this business in 1972 when we were lucky enough to be special guest to Alice Cooper on his “Killer” tour. Now that Alice has been added to the Cruise, I am stoked to be able to play and hang with him again.”
–Eric Bloom, Blue Oyster Cult–

“Are you ready to Rock ‘n’ Roll? That, is the burning question. And the perfect place to answer it is the Rock Legends Cruise – February, 2015. I will be performing there with my band, and I guarantee you – we’re gon’a rock the house (or rather the boat). You’re going to walk off that ship saying, ‘We all had a real good time.’ So whatever you do, don’t miss It. Get ready to Rock ‘n’ Roll!!!”

TUNES4FOOD – “REDEMPTION DAY” CD FEATURING HEART & OTHERS TO BENEFIT FOOD BANKS

December 12, 2013

TUNES4FOOD “REDEMPTION DAY” CD FEATURING WELL KNOWN ARTISTS
TO BENEFIT FOOD BANKS IN NORTHEASTERN UNITED STATES
****************************************************
HEART, YOKO ONO, JACKSON BROWNE, MELISSA ETHERIDGE, NILS LOFGREN,
LITTLE STEVEN, INDIGO GIRLS, ANI DIFRANCO, WILLIE NILE, JOE GRUSHECKY,
THE VERBS AND OTHERS STEP UP FOR HUNGER CAUSE BY PROVIDING
LIVE, RARE OR EXCLUSIVE TRACKS FOR CHARITY COMPILATION
******************************************************

HEART, Yoko Ono, Jackson Browne, Melissa Etheridge, Nils Lofgren, Little Steven and Indigo Girls are just a few of the many artists who have come together to lend a helping hand to Tunes4Food – Redemption Day, a newly released CD on Popadelic Records that will benefit three Feeding America Food Banks: Food Bank of Western New York in Buffalo, Cleveland Food Bank and Long Island Cares/The Harry Chapin Food Bank in Hauppauge, New York.

Available now on iTunes for $9.99 (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/tunes4food-redemption-day/id766096950?ign-mpt=uo%3D4) and eBay (in packs of 2, 3 or 10 ranging from $25 – $100 that all include free shipping and promo stickers), Tunes4Food – Redemption Day features nineteen tracks in all (see below for track listing).

Trying to answer the question, “What would John Lennon do to help feed the needy?,” Bob James and a group of music students in Buffalo, New York came up with the idea for Tunes4Food and quickly organized a continuous 25-hour benefit concert on the steps of City Hall (June 2009).

“Distinct from crisis-driven benefits, this is a proactive campaign to address the growing need for help not only in these particular communities, but across our country,” says campaign manager and project producer James. “Unfortunately, hunger is a growing epidemic but, with this drive, I think we can make a measurable difference.”

It’s been determined that for every Tunes4Food – Redemption Day CD sold, the Feeding America Food Banks can purchase approximately 40 meals.

Links to purchase the CD can be found on the Tunes4Food website at www.tunes4food.org.

To further advance the cause, winter events and local musical performances have been scheduled in the three cities of the benefiting food banks, with a spring benefit being planned for Los Angeles.

“It’s amazing that a small grassroots community service music club in a Buffalo classroom has drawn together some of the biggest names in music,” comments Bob James, who was recognized by Hillary Rodham Clinton in 1999 for a music campaign relating to school safety in the Buffalo area.

“We have deep appreciation for the artists and their staff that helped build this album. We hope that the meals generated to feed those in need will be received in that spirit and we challenge musicians in other communities to adopt this idea.”

As stated by Feeding America, “Hunger exists everywhere in America. It does not matter if you live in a urban, suburban or rural setting – hunger has no boundaries.”

Help the cause and spread the word.

This CD is dedicated to the songs, lives and courage of Pete Seeger and Joan Baez.

“John Lennon was quoted as saying he wanted to be remembered as a famous peacenik,
and he worked tirelessly to get the anti-war message out during his lifetime. Our song,
‘Dear Old America’ speaks through the eyes of a young soldier in 2013 struggling with the
reality of modern war and its painful effects on our world and its families. We dedicate
this song to all those wounded and in need.”
With Love, Ann Wilson, HEART

“Given the abundant planet we live on, there should be no hungry people anywhere,
including America. Please support this worthy cause however you can. We can all help
and solution are our collective responsibility.”
Nils Lofgren, Guitarist, Songwriter & E STREET BAND Member

Dig this…

You and a few thousand of your fellow rock fanatics get on board one of the biggest, fastest and most luxurious cruise ships in existence to spend three full days and four nights listening to your favorite classic rock bands performing their greatest hits for hours on end.

Yes, it’s back and better than ever!

Welcome to ROCK LEGENDS CRUISE III, the spectacular classic rock music festival at sea that will set sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Nassau, Bahamas on February 19, 2015.

Eat. Sleep. Rock!

If you’ve done this before, you know what to expect.

If not, you have no idea… other than the fact that it promises to be one of the best times of your life.

“It’s everything you could imagine along with some things you could probably never imagine,” quips Pam Myers of the Native American Heritage Association (NAHA), the charitable organization that hosts, and benefits from, the Cruise. “An experience like no other, it’s simply the classic rock cruise of a lifetime.”

The forthcoming ROCK LEGENDS CRUISE III will feature The Doobie Brothers, 38 Special, The Marshall Tucker Band, Dickey Betts and Great Southern, Blue Oyster Cult, Uriah Heep, Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown, Edgar Winter, Pat Travers Band and The Blue Lords along with other artists that have yet to be announced.

Call it the initial “Top Ten.”

It’s a unique opportunity to see your favorite band not once, but twice… maybe even three times!

You can expect the typical day to be as follows… get up by the crack of noon, get some food, find a reclining lounge chair on the pool deck and listen to such rock classics as “Black Water,” “Hold On Loosely,” “Can’t You See,” “Ramblin’ Man” and “Easy Livin’.”

Think about it… where else can you possibly hear “Godzilla” and “Frankenstein” on the same day?

And that’s just the beginning as additional artists will be announced in the upcoming months…

Listen to the music with The Doobies and go rockin’ into the night with the Wild-Eyed Southern Boys!

More than 50 concert performances expected in all!

This is the cruise you want to be on!

Only three “vacation” or “sick” days are necessary!

Have you ever seen Dickey Betts surf? Me, neither.

But you will get to see him play guitar and that, alone, is worth the price of admission.

This is truly something to look forward to and a vacation you will definitely remember.

Cabins are moving quickly with a significant number already sold to those that have sailed the Rock Legends “journey” before… this was prior to announcing any artists… they know just how great an experience it really is!

So book your cabins soon before they’re gone!

Think “Christmas!”

Most levels are still available including Interior, Ocean View, Deluxe and Superior Ocean View with Balcony and a variety of suites, with pricing beginning at $1099.00 per person (double occupancy).

ALVIN LEE’S LAST PERFORMANCE NOW AVAILABLE ON CD – “THE LAST SHOW”

September 26, 2013

LAST PERFORMANCE OF LEGENDARY BLUES ROCKER
ALVIN LEE CAPTURED ON “THE LAST SHOW” CD
TO BE RELEASED OCTOBER 1 VIA RAINMAN RECORDS
**********************************************************************
FOURTEEN SONG “GEM” FEATURES COMBINATION OF
TEN YEARS AFTER CLASSICS ALONG WITH SOLO SONGS AND RARITIES
*********************************************************************************************

On Sunday, August 17, 1969, Alvin Lee and his band mates from Ten Years After hit the stage at the legendary Woodstock Festival for what would be one of the most electrifying performances of the three day event… a moment that catapulted the band into superstardom.

On March 6, 2013, Alvin prematurely left “the stage” when he unexpectedly passed away at the age of 68.

What he left behind was some of the greatest rock and blues licks known to mankind… gone, but definitely not forgotten.

As fate would have it, the last show Alvin Lee would ever play, Raalte, Holland on May 28, 2012, would be recorded. It was never intended to be released but, after Alvin heard it, he decided it was so truly special that he should make it available to his fans.

That recording, THE LAST SHOW, is now here.

Coming out on Tuesday, October 1 for all fans to enjoy and further remember him by, THE LAST SHOW (on Rainman Records) features fourteen live cuts including such Ten Years After classics as “I’m Going Home” and “I Can’t Keep from Crying Sometimes” (both performed at Woodstock) along with “Hear Me Calling,” “Love Like A Man” and a host of others.

The CD (see below for track listing) is a beautifully packaged audio scrapbook documenting the culmination of a legend’s career. The music is brilliant and there are plenty of photos of the show along with personal notes from his wife, band and fans, all of whom were at the show.

“Possibly my favourite memory of Alvin in recent years: to see him walking off stage in Raalte with his red Gibson slung to the side and a big grin on his face,” states his wife, Evi. “Not usually one to be easily satisfied with his live performances, he was exhilarated and proud of having given the crowd his best on that evening. He would have been very happy with this unadulterated authentic release of the show.”

As the story goes, in 1967, four young musicians from Nottinghamshire, England — Alvin Lee, Leo Lyons, Ric Lee and Chick Churchill — formed Ten Years After and became one of the biggest names in music and one of the most explosive quartets on the world stage.

After promoter Bill Graham took notice of the band after hearing their self-titled debut album on San Francisco’s “underground” radio stations, he invited them to tour the States for the first time in 1968. So well received, the band would ultimately tour the U.S. twenty-eight times from ’68 to ’74, more than any other UK band.

In a short five year span, Ten Years After would enjoy considerable chart success with eight albums entering the Top 40 on the UK Albums Chart.

Over the course of their career, twelve of their albums reached the Top 200 on the Billboard charts in the United States.

Their now legendary encore, “I’m Going Home,” performed at Woodstock in August 1969, was captured on film and exposed their jazz, blues, rock amalgam to a large audience, who were blown away by the intensity of the band’s performance when the Academy Award winning documentary was released. Their ten-minute appearance in the film is an acknowledged highlight and established Ten Years After a place in rock history.

From that third day of Woodstock in ’69 to his last day on that sixth day of March earlier this year, Alvin Lee undeniably left an imprint.

In 1974, he departed the band and went on to collaborate with such music notables as George Harrison, Ronnie Wood, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Winwood, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bo Diddley, Mick Taylor and others.

He would reunite with his band mates from Ten Years After for various events and occasions in the years to come.

The band scored their biggest hit in 1971 with a song written and sung by Alvin called, “I’d Love To Change The World.”

When it comes to the world of music, he certainly did just that…

Featured in Exquisite New Art Book 108 Rock Star Guitars

By Photographer/Author Lisa S. Johnson with Foreword by Les Paul

A Portion of Proceeds To Benefit The Les Paul Foundation

LOS ANGELES, June 5, 2013, 108 Rock Star Guitars by photographer/author Lisa S. Johnson is a collection of stunningly personal and intimate portraits of the cherished guitars owned by the gods of rock. It is a music and fine-art photography aficionado’s backstage pass to witness up-close these six-stringed works of art belonging to Les Paul, Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Lou Reed, Carlos Santana, Bruce Springsteen, Nancy Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, Rick Nielsen, Slash, Jack White, Billy Gibbons, Ace Frehley and many others. The book, to be published by Glitterati Incorporated, is offered for pre-order now at www.108RockStarGuitars.com and will be available at booksellers and online everywhere September 16, 2013. (108 Rock Star Guitars SRP: $108, ISBN: 978-0-9832702-5-6). A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Les Paul Foundation.

This exquisite, 396-page art book, bound in embossed red leatherette, features 300 images that reveal—through Johnson’s signature macrophotography style—the intimate details, etchings, totems, and personal touches that embody the true spirit of the musician and that few—save for their stage crew—have seen from this perspective. Alongside these images, Johnson provides personal anecdotes describing her long quest to photograph these iconic instruments and documents her travels from the backstage hallways of some the world’s most famous concert venues, to the artist’s private homes.

“I remember the first black-and-white pictures Lisa took of my guitars… they were wonderfully evocative,” writes the late legendary musician and inventor Les Paul in the book’s foreword. “I never could have guessed that she would one day produce the extensive, impressive collection of photographs presented here—images unlike any I have ever seen. Lisa’s passion for her subject is evident on every page of this magnificent book.”

In addition, Glitterati will issue a deluxe, limited edition of 540 signed and numbered copies, packaged in a die-cut collector’s box. (SRP: $540, ISBN: 978-0-9891704-0-6). Those books will include a hand-woven, silk chiffon scarf in deep purple, featuring the book cover design. Both editions will include a 16-page booklet, “The Inspiration Behind 108 Rock Star Guitars,” with additional behind-the-scenes photos and stories as well as a guitar pick printed with one of three custom holographic foil designs.

108 Rock Star Guitars is the culmination of Johnson’s 17-year journey that began when she photographed Les Paul’s guitar during one of his regular Monday night sets at New York’s famed Iridium Club. Renowned for his innovations and recognized as one of the pioneers of the solid body electric guitar, he wrote the book’s foreword a few months before he passed away in 2009. In his honor and memory, Johnson will donate a portion of the proceeds to The Les Paul Foundation, which supports music education, engineering and innovation as well as medical research.

Johnson’s innovative guitar photographs can also be seen in the book Eric Clapton: Six-String Stories, where 47 of her images are featured along with archival photos by acclaimed lensmen Lord Snowden, David Bailey, Terry O’Neill, Dominique Tarle and others.

As a former technical sales rep for Kodak, Johnson shot extensively, experimenting with processes and every type of film she had in her inventory. In 108 Rock Star Guitars, she showcases a variety of the last film stock ever manufactured for Kodak Professional and the transition to digital, in her gorgeous homage to image and music.

POPULAR ROCK’N’BLUES FEST TOUR TO RETURN THIS SUMMER WITH AN ARSENAL OF ROCK AND BLUES LEGENDS INCLUDING TEN YEARS AFTER, EDGAR WINTER BAND, CANNED HEAT, RICK DERRINGER AND PAT TRAVERS

May 21, 2013

The summertime blues are back and better than ever as the popular Rock’n’Blues Fest tour returns for a second consecutive year with such well-known artists as Ten Years After, Edgar Winter Band, Canned Heat, Rick Derringer and Pat Travers.

All inspired to pick up their instruments due to their love for rock and blues, these five artists will be hitting the road together for approximately a month beginning July 27 at The Cannery Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer return from last year, where they performed many a sold out show with Johnny Winter, Leslie West and Kim Simmonds.

In 1967, four young musicians from Nottinghamshire, England — Leo Lyons, Ric Lee and Chick Churchill together with Alvin Lee — formed Ten Years After and became one of the biggest names in music and one of the most explosive quartets on the world stage. In 1971, the band had a Top 40 hit with “I’d Love To Change The World.” After Alvin Lee left the band for a solo career, Ten Years After ceased recording and touring. A chance opportunity in early 2002 for the other three original members of Ten Years After (bassist Leo Lyons, drummer Ric Lee and keyboardist Chick Churchill) to work together again gave them an insight into the intense, re-awakened interest in the band. In 2003, vocalist/guitarist Joe Gooch joined the line-up and the band soon released a studio album titled Now, which was followed by a live effort in 2005. Today, they are recreating the music, energy and excitement they’ve been known for over the past several decades.

“All the members of Ten Years After are enthusiastic about reuniting with Edgar, Rick and especially Canned Heat again,” states Ric Lee. “Original members Chick Churchill, Leo Lyons and I first performed alongside Canned Heat at the legendary Fillmore Ballroom on our first tour of the United States in 1968 and have remained good friends ever since. We are also excited to tour the U.S. as we pay tribute to band-mate Alvin Lee, while igniting a new wave of youthful excitement and appeasing long-term fans.”

Alvin Lee, for those unaware, passed away earlier this year from “unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure.”

Joining Ten Years After for the Rock’n’Blues Fest “ride” will be Edgar Winter, who has certainly met with considerable acclaim in his own right with such monster hits as “Free Ride” and the chart-topping rocker, “Frankenstein.”

A multi-instrumentalist (keyboards/sax/percussion) whose music encompasses many different genres including rock, blues, jazz and pop, Edgar Winter first hit the national spotlight with his early recording of “Tobacco Road,” featured on his 1970 debut album, Entrance. Edgar would soon form the band White Trash and release two hit albums in ’71 and ’72 titled, Edgar Winter’s White Trash and Roadwork. Hot on the heels of the certified gold album, Roadwork, Edgar would put together an entirely new outfit called The Edgar Winter Group that would originally feature guitarist Ronnie Montrose. In 1973, the band’s first effort, They Only Come Out at Night, would spawn both the hit singles, “Free Ride” (#14) and “Frankenstein” (#1), and remain on the charts for an incredible 80 consecutive weeks. The pivotal album would eventually reach double-platinum status, selling more than 2 million copies. With over 20 albums and numerous collaborative efforts to his credit, Edgar Winter has not been satisfied to ride the wave of popular music stardom. His music has been featured in several major national television and radio and advertising campaigns. In addition, his music can be heard in no fewer than fifteen film and television projects.

“This is Edgar Winter, and we will be rockin’ the blues again this year on the Rock’n’Blues Fest Tour. For those of you who saw us last year, we will be doing a new and very different show. 2013 marks the fortieth year since the release of ‘Frankenstein’ and ‘Free Ride’ on the album, They Only Come Out At Night. So we intend to celebrate the occasion by playing some of the songs from that album I haven’t done in years — like ‘We All Had A Real Good Time,’ ‘Hangin’ Around,’ and ‘Undercover Man.’ We are very excited, this one’s going to be a blast! It means the world to me to be playing the music I love, and see you all out there having a good time. So we look forward to seeing you at one of the shows, and get ready to ROCK ‘n’ ROLL!!!”

Joining the tour for the first time is Canned Heat who rose to fame because their knowledge and love of blues music was both wide and deep. Emerging in 1966, Canned Heat was founded by blues historians and record collectors Alan “Blind Owl” Wilson and Bob “The Bear” Hite. Drawing on an encyclopedic knowledge of all phases of the genre, the group specialized in updating obscure old blues recordings. Canned Heat’s unique blend of modern electric blues, rock and boogie has earned them a loyal following and influenced many aspiring guitarists and bands during the past four decades. Their Top 20 country-blues-rock songs from 1968, “On The Road Again” and “Going Up The Country,” became rock anthems throughout the world with the latter being adopted as the unofficial theme song for the film Woodstock. Their cover version of Wilbert Harrison’s “Let’s Work Together” was actually their biggest hit as it rose to #1 in 31 different countries around the world.

“We are all looking forward to a great tour with our longtime friends of Ten Years After and Edgar Winter,” says Skip Taylor, Canned Heat’s longtime manager. “It should be as much fun for us as for the audience.”

Next on the bill is rock guitarist Rick Derringer, who’s had an illustrious career as both a solo artist and critical band member.

Air guitarists will surely be out in force when Rick breaks into his well-known rock anthem, “Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo.” The song, released in ’73, continues to be a staple on rock radio and was featured in several movies including The Spirit of ’76, Rush, Stag, What A Girl Wants and the cult classic, Dazed and Confused. It’s a little known fact that years before his success as a solo artist, Rick had a band at the age of 17 called The McCoys that had a #1 hit in 1965 called, “Hang on Sloopy.” The song would eventually be knocked out of the top spot by The Beatles’ “Yesterday.” A year after its release, The McCoys would find themselves as the openers for the entire Rolling Stones American tour. In 1977, Rick would appear on the last Led Zeppelin North American Tour and, in the years to follow, would perform with such artists as Alice Cooper (“Under My Wheels”), Steely Dan (“Show Biz Kids” and “Chained Lightning”), KISS, Todd Rundgren and Weird Al Yankovic among others including the Winter brothers, Johnny and Edgar. From 1986 to 1992, Rick would tour with Cindy Lauper and co-write a song from her True Colors album titled, “Calm Inside The Storm.” In 2011, Rick toured Europe with Ringo Starr as a member of Ringo’s All-Starr Band just prior to embarking on that year’s Hippiefest tour.

While most bluesy hard rock acts of the ‘70s and ‘80s hailed from the United States, there were several exceptions to the rule, such as Canadian singer/guitarist Pat Travers who also joins the Rock’n’Blues Fest tour for the first time. Born in Toronto, he first picked up the guitar just prior to entering his teens, after witnessing a local performance of the great Jimi Hendrix. His first touring gig came his way when he hooked up with ‘50s Rock & Roll vet Ronnie Hawkins. But Travers main love was hard rock so, after a year, he headed to London before returning to North America and setting his sights on the U.S. rock market. With the new Travers band, Pat enjoyed his most commercially successful period, resulting in a pair of Top 30 releases, “Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)” from the album, Live! Go For What You Know, and “Snortin’ Whiskey” from Crash and Burn. Travers continues to tour and record regularly, rocking the masses wherever he goes…

“I am so excited to be part of a tour that has some of my favorite artists on it playing some of best music ever written and performed. This is Pat Travers and I’m champing at the bit to get the chance to play a lot of Rockin’ Blues on the Blues Fest Tour this Summer 2013.”

Change the world with Ten Years After!

Unleash “the monster” with Edgar Winter!

Work together with Canned Heat!

Hang on with Rick Derringer!

Watch the lights go out with Pat Travers!

SOUND OF CONTACT FEATURING SIMON COLLINS AND DAVE KERZNER TO RESONATE PLANET EARTH WITH RELEASE OF DEBUT ALBUM TITLED “DIMENSIONAUT” VIA INSIDEOUT MUSIC ON TUESDAY, MAY 28

SOUND OF CONTACT FEATURING SIMON COLLINS AND DAVE KERZNER
TO RESONATE PLANET EARTH WITH RELEASE OF DEBUT ALBUM
TITLED “DIMENSIONAUT” VIA INSIDEOUT MUSIC ON TUESDAY, MAY 28

NEW BAND REVEALS STUNNING WORLDWIDE DEBUT MUSIC VIDEO
FOR FIRST SINGLE, “NOT COMING DOWN” TODAY, WEDNESDAY, MAY 15

SOUND OF CONTACT are set to release their debut concept album, Dimensionaut, on Tuesday, May 28th in the United States and are currently out on tour in Europe as part of the InsideOut Music 20th Anniversary shows with Spock’s Beard and Beardfish.

Dimensionaut is about a man who has the ability to travel through space, time and alternate realities and yet struggles with his desire to keep a sense of grounded reality on Earth, with each song an episode and sub-story within the larger contact of the 72-minute album.

Recently a select few industry members and close friends and family were treated to a screening of the band’s fantastic debut music video for “Not Coming Down,” the first single to be taken from Dimensionaut.

That video premieres today, Wednesday, May 15, and is now viewable in all its six-and-a-half minute glory here, presented by ClassicRockRevisited.com:

www.classicrockrevisited.com

The band had this to say about the video’s concept and making…

“We’re excited to be premiering the music video for our single, ‘Not Coming Down,’ as it is not only the first full song most people will be hearing from our debut album, Dimensionaut, but it is also a significant moment in our concept album’s storyline,” says Simon Collins, co-writer/producer, vocalist and drummer for SOUND OF CONTACT. “Each of the music videos being made for our new album are like an episode in the overall story and this one reveals an event in our character’s journey where he hits rock bottom from a state of spiritual poverty. He is faced with the delicate balance of life and this acts as the catalyst for the realization of who he truly is, a Dimensionaut.”

“The song is also about a point of no return which can so easily be reached when certain lines are crossed, states Dave Kerzner, co-writer/producer and keyboardist for SOUND OF CONTACT. “Radical life changes can happen in any given moment to anyone. We sometimes forget how fragile we are…”

In the video, Simon Collins, son of legendary musician Phil Collins, is on vocals and drums, Dave Kerzner is on keyboards, Matt Dorsey on bass and joining them for the video is touring guitarist John Wesley (Porcupine Tree, Fish). They are accompanied by a string quintet. Collins also plays the character “Dimensionaut” in the video, who is continually trying to escape who he really is. Actress Michelle Martinez plays his love interest and is faced with difficult challenges witnessing the resistance he has to his highly unusual life as well as a strange flying object that begins hovering above him as his condition deteriorates. She does her best to save him from his ultimate climactic moment of transformation.

The brainchild of Simon Collins and keyboardist/co-producer Dave Kerzner, SOUND OF CONTACT marks the beginning of something that Collins had always to wanted to put his hand to after ten years of promoting his own solo career. With the help of Kerzner as well as Matt Dorsey, Kelly Nordstrom and Hannah Stobart (Wishing Tree), and with an album mixed by Nick Davis (Genesis, XTC, Marillion), this vision has come to fruition.

The music can be described as a refreshing blend of modern and classic rock with influences ranging from Pink Floyd and The Beatles to Genesis, Yes and modern artists such as Radiohead, Sigur Ros and Coldplay.

To give everyone a first impression of what to expect from Dimensionaut, the band put together a teaser video with snippets of each song.

SAIL ROCK 2013 TO FEATURE TIDAL WAVE OF HITS THIS SUMMER!

May 3, 2013

SAIL ROCK 2013 TO FEATURE TIDAL WAVE OF HITS
THIS SUMMER WITH PERFORMANCES BY
CHRISTOPHER CROSS, ORLEANS, GARY WRIGHT,
FIREFALL, JOHN FORD COLEY, ROBBIE DUPREE AND PLAYER

What do you get when you combine such classic songs as “Ride Like The Wind,” “Still The One,” “Dream Weaver,” “You Are The Woman,” “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight,” “Steal Away” and “Baby Come Back?”

An amazing flashback concert spectacle called the SAIL ROCK tour featuring Christopher Cross, Orleans, Gary Wright, Firefall, John Ford Coley, Robbie Dupree and Player.

Nothing but hits with the original voices.

In the summer of ’76, no matter where you were in America, it was likely that you were listening to many of those hits on your favorite radio station…”Still The One,” “Dream Weaver,” “You Are The Woman” and “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight” along with Gary Wright’s “Love is Alive” were all staples of the summer.

Although you might have already been familiar with Orleans from their hit song, “Dance with Me” from the year before and Gary Wright due to his work with the British band, Spooky Tooth, it was 1976 that most of the artists became well-known with their hit singles and considerable chart success.

Here it is, well over three decades later, and not only do fans and followers remember the songs, they recollect the great memories that often come along with them.

Now’s your chance to relive some of those good times with an evening of SAIL ROCK.

Featuring seven artists who boast a combined thirty Top 40 hits, along with sixteen Top 10’s and three chart-topping singles, the inaugural SAIL ROCK tour is expected to begin in early July (see current itinerary below).

Christopher Cross was by far the biggest new star of 1980, virtually defining adult contemporary radio with a series of smoothly sophisticated ballads including the #1 hit, “Sailing.” That year, his self-titled debut album, Christopher Cross, spawned no less than four Top 20 singles, including “Ride Like The Wind,” “Never Be the Same,” “Say You’ll Be Mine,” and, of course, his biggest hit off the disc, “Sailing,” which ultimately garnered Cross one of his five Grammy Awards (1981) for Song of the Year. The Grammy honors, which included Best New Artist, would be an unprecedented and record-setting achievement. Christopher soon scored his second number one hit, as well as an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award, with the song, “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do),” for the popular Dudley Moore comedy movie, Arthur. In 1983, Christopher would have another Top 10 song with “Think of Laura,” a song featured prominently in the daytime drama, General Hospital. In all, Christopher Cross had eight songs on the Billboard Top 40 charts between 1980 and 1983. Four years, two albums, eight hit singles, several world tours, five Grammy’s, and one Oscar marked Christopher’s meteoric rise to the top. Throughout the years, he has remained a unique artist, replete with that confounding blend of sensitivity, determination and conviction of his own artistry. Christopher continues to record and perform, averaging about 100 live shows per year.

From their earliest days as a favorite at colleges and clubs in the Northeast US … to studio and live collaborations with industry greats Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Little Feat and others… to Top 10 success with bona-fide classics such as “Still the One” and “Dance With Me”… now celebrating their 40th year of creating musical history together, Orleans has continually demonstrated “depth.” “Depth”: A word used to describe sports teams who are multi-dimensional, movies that must be seen many times, art that continues to reveal hidden meaning. In the throwaway world of Rock & Roll bands, how often do you see real depth? For the past four decades, Orleans has defied industry pundits and career counselors by doing many different things well. They’ve been performing live nearly every year since 1972, always with at least half the original members. They do it the old-fashioned way… they sing and play their own stuff. Their oldest fans are bewildered and amazed at the fact that they still sound as good as (or even better than) ever … especially their vocals! Younger fans are simply impressed. Everyone agrees… these guys “still have it”.

Although he’s probably best known for his massive hit, “Dream Weaver,” Gary Wright originally hit the popular music scene in 1967 as the singer and keyboard player for the band Spooky Tooth. In 1970, he would perform at the famous Isle of Wight festival with the band. Prior to the breakup of Spooky Tooth in 1974, Gary was invited to perform piano on George Harrison’s solo classic, All Things Must Pass. In 1975, Gary released his first solo album “The Dream Weaver” featuring the singles, “Dream Weaver” and “Love is Alive,” both of which would hit the #2 position on the Billboard charts the following year and remain classic rock radio mainstays until this very day. “Dream Weaver” would sell over a million copies shortly after its release and go on to be prominently featured in three major movies including Wayne’s World, The People vs. Larry Flynt and Toy Story 3. In 1981, Gary would achieve his third big hit with the release of “Really Wanna Know You.” Since 2008, Gary has toured with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. More recently, Gary released an album titled, Connected, featuring such musicians as Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh and Jeff “Skunk” Baxter. He appeared on the Hippiefest tour in 2011 with Dave Mason, Mark Farner, Rick Derringer and Felix Cavaliere and is excited to be on this year’s Sail Rock Tour.

Gary states, “I am very much looking forward to playing again with such a great group of artists this summer. I’ve worked with Christopher Cross, Peter Beckett and Robbie Dupree in the past and I’m looking forward to working with Orleans and Firefall. It should be a great tour.”

Jock Bartley, Sandy Ficca, Bil Hopkins and Steven Weinmeister have been playing together in Firefall for over fifteen years, with Chris Ball joining the band in 2002. Firefall first hit the scene in May of 1976 with the release of their self-titled debut album that would be, at the time, the quickest album to reach gold status in the history of Atlantic Records. The second single released from the album, “You Are The Woman,” would enter the Top 10 and become their biggest hit. That summer, the band found themselves opening up for the legendary Fleetwood Mac. In 1977, the band would have another major hit with “Just Remember I Love You,” followed by yet another in 1978 with “Strange Way.” Both would hit #11 on the charts… Over the years, they would compile an impressive six Top 40 hits. Today in concert, Firefall can play over an hour of nothing but hits and radio recognizable tunes. There are plans to record a live CD to capture the fire and fun that sparks from the stage. They are currently writing songs for a new studio album, which will hopefully soon become a reality. Firefall endures because of the strength and integrity of their songs. It flourishes because of the energy and spontaneity that is so evident on stage and in the studio.

“Firefall is very excited to be playing on the Sail Rock tour with such great bands and artists of the 1970s,” says founding member Jock Bartley. “It’s an honor for us to be included. It’ll be hit song after hit song being played on this amazing tour, some of the top tunes from that amazing decade. What a roster! What an event!”

There are songs you hear in your life that transport you to a certain time period or give you a special feeling. You associate those good times to the group that made them famous. Songs like “I’d Really Love To See You Tonight,” “Nights Are Forever Without You” and “Love Is The Answer” by England Dan and John Ford Coley seemingly have that kind of effect on people. Those popular Top 10 singles from the 70’s, along with such other songs as “It’s Sad To Belong,” “Gone Too Far” and “We’ll Never Have to Say Goodbye Again” have made John Ford Coley a singing legend. He has spent decades touring, writing, recording, and producing. John — most revered as half of the Grammy nominated duo England Dan and John Ford Coley — continues with an active roster performing the platinum and gold record hits for audiences around the world. As part of that duo, he would have six Top 40 hits, including four Top 10’s. Classically trained on piano and an avid guitarist, John loves the craft and enjoys every audience he encounters. John is currently going into the studio to record new material for an acoustic album.

“Every now and then I get the opportunity to perform with friends and musicians whose music I really enjoy and what they contributed to the world by their music,” says John. “Although I’ve performed with many of these guys on separate occasions, I’m excited to be able to perform with so many of them at the same time. It’s going to be like old home week for me. I’ll be singing along with everyone else. It was great music and I know everyone will enjoy hearing all of those songs back-to-back.”

Robbie Dupree began his music career in the clubs of Greenwich Village in New York during the late 1960’s. After years of performing in R&B bands (including New World Rising with renowned producer/guitarist Nile Rodgers), he moved to Los Angeles in 1978. A musical partnership with Rick Chudacoff and Peter Bunetta led to Robbie’s first recording contract on Elektra Records. His debut album from 1980 produced two major hit singles, “Steal Away” and “Hot Rod Hearts,” now classics. In 1981, Robbie was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best New Artist. His current release, Arc of a Romance, marks his tenth studio recording. His songs have been used in major films and television shows. Robbie continues to perform live in concert around the world.

“It’s going to be great fun to be a part of the Sail Rock tour, comments Robbie. “I get the chance to work with old friends and great artists . Although through the years we have all continued to record and tour, this show gives us an opportunity to revisit our hits from back in the day.”

The band Player — now featuring original members Peter Beckett and Ronn Moss — is, perhaps, best known for their international number one hit single called “Baby Come Back.” This song came about when Peter had just split from someone he had been in a relationship with for a long time. Still feeling the sting, he sat down with J.C. Crowley, to write, and their moods came out in the song. “Baby Come Back” broke on the radio in October of 1977, and reached number one in early January, 1978. Player was voted by Billboard Magazine’s honor roll as Best New Single Artist for 1978. Just two months after “Baby Come Back” hit the top of the charts, the band would follow up with another Top 10 hit, “This Time I’m In It For Love.” Both songs appeared on their self-titled, debut album, Player. As well as both playing guitar, Peter and J.C. shared the lead vocals on this album, except for “Tryin’ To Write A Hit Song,” which Ronn Moss took the lead vocals on. J.C. is also credited with playing keyboards and synthesizer as well as guitar. Player first performed live as the opening act for Gino Vanelli in November of ’77, then later with Boz Scaggs. It was in the middle of this tour that “Baby Come Back” became a huge hit, and the band took off from there. Later in 1978, the band would experience another Top 40 hit called, “Prisoner of Love,” from their album, Danger Zone. Player has now been reformed again with original members Peter Beckett and Ronn Moss, and have just released their new EP and album on Frontiers Records.

“I’m looking forward to getting out there and playing some Rock and Roll with Peter Beckett,” says Ronn Moss. “We’ll make it fun, and it’ll be great to see a lot of our fans.”
