TEN STUDENTS FROM BELMONT UNIVERSITY TO EXPERIENCE
ALL FACETS OF TOURING AS THEY HOP ON THE BUS TO JOIN
HAPPY TOGETHER FOR “ROCK AND ROLL REALITY TOUR”

In the three years since The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie brought back some friends for the 25th Anniversary Tour in 2010, “Happy Together” has become one of the most successful summer tours in existence, constantly hitting the road and celebrating the music of the 60’s for thousands of “Happy” fans to enjoy across North America.

This year’s Happy Together Tour — comprised of The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, Chuck Negron, formerly of Three Dog Night, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, Mark Lindsay, former lead singer of Paul Revere & The Raiders and Gary Lewis & The Playboys — will begin on Saturday, June 8 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi and subsequently land in more than fifty cities across the United States and Canada on a trek that is expected to last through early October (see below for itinerary).

“Happy Together Tour 2013 will be the biggest and most successful tour we have done in the past 7 years,” states Mark Volman (aka “Flo”) of The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie. “It’s 54 cities over 9 weeks, and the groups on this year’s show bring with them hours of hit songs and memories certain to please every fan of the 1960’s. We are so excited to be a part of this great show. You don’t want to miss it!”

Hours of hit songs, indeed.

In all, the five artists on this year’s tour have over sixty Top 40 hits to choose from, including six number one songs.

Half of those Top 40 hits were Top 10!

The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie have headlined and hosted all the previous Happy Together Tours and will be doing the same for this year’s shows.

Gary Puckett & The Union Gap return from last year, while Mark Lindsay, former lead singer of Paul Revere & The Raiders returns from 2010 and 2011.

Chuck Negron, formerly of Three Dog Night, joined The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie on 2009’s Hippiefest Tour.

The relative newcomer to the Happy Together Tour is Gary Lewis & The Playboys, who shared the stage with The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, The Mamas & the Papas, The Grass Roots and The Buckinghams on the immensely successful 1985 Happy Together Tour.

“I’m very excited to be on the Happy Together Tour again with my great friends from the 60’s,” exclaims Gary. “We have wonderful acts and all you’ll hear is hits!”

From such songs as “Happy Together,” “Joy to the World” and “Young Girl” to “Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)” and “This Diamond Ring,” fans will, once again, delight in hearing the songs sung by the original singers that they’ve heard on the radio for the past several decades.

“Happy Together” by The Turtles hit #1 on the charts in 1967 (displacing the Beatles’ “Penny Lane”) and remains a staple on classic rock radio to this day. Although their biggest hit and signature song, it’s just one of their nine Top 40 hits, which includes such popular songs as “She’d Rather Be With Me,” “Elenore,” “You Showed Me” and “It Ain’t Me Babe.” In 1968, far ahead of their time, they would release one of music’s first concept albums, The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands, where they pretended to be eleven different bands with different names, each providing a song in a different genre. The album — which showcased their incredible range of vocal talent — spawned the hits “Elenore” and “You Showed Me” (both peaking at #6 on the Billboard charts). Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan have remained plenty busy over the years with both The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie and their extracurricular music activities. The band has sold over 60 million albums worldwide and continue to please audiences with their fun-filled performances.

Chuck Negron co-founded the hugely popular, multi-platinum band, Three Dog Night in 1967. The group went on to become one of the most successful bands of the late 60’s and early 70’s with 21 Top 40 hits and three number one songs including “Joy to the World,” “Black and White” and “Mama Told Me (Not to Come).” The band’s first gold record was “One,” which featured Chuck on lead vocals as did “Joy to the World” and many other of the band’s biggest hits including “Old Fashioned Love Song.” Chuck has kept the music that he helped make famous “alive” by continuing to perform throughout the decades.

This year’s Happy Together Tour starts on Chuck’s birthday and he’s looking forward to being a part of the festivities. “Performing with the Happy Together Tour is one of the highlights of my career!”

Gary Puckett & The Union Gap was one of the most successful musical groups of the sixties, boasting five Top 10 singles. Gary’s unmistakable signature voice garnered six consecutive gold records and top ten Billboard hits such as “Young Girl” and “Woman Woman.” In 1968, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap sold more records than any other artist including the Beatles. Gary Puckett has performed on more than thirty network television shows and prime time specials during his career, even adding a command performance for the President and Prince Charles at the White House. The Union Gap disbanded in 1971. Gary continues to tour nationally and internationally.

Gary comments, “The Happy Together Tour is a tremendously fun and entertaining show both to do AND to see! It’s a pleasure and an honor to be one of the featured performers. Don’t miss it!”

“Indian Reservation” by Paul Revere & The Raiders hit #1 on the charts in 1971, selling over 4 million copies which made it the biggest selling single for Columbia Records for almost a decade. This massive hit followed quite a few that came before it from the band including “Kicks,” “Hungry,” “Just Like Me” and “Good Thing” (as well as the Mark Lindsay Top Ten solo hit, “Arizona,” from 1970). In all, the band would achieve no less than fifteen Top 40 hits, five going Top 10. In February of this year, Mark released, “Like Nothing That You’ve Seen,” ultimately described by Little Steven on Sirius/XM Radio’s “Underground Garage” as the “coolest song in the world.” A full album, via Bongo Boy Records, will be coming out this summer.

“I’m hyper-excited about being back on the Happy Together Tour this year and I’m working out to get in top shape for my high energy show,” says Mark. “I hope to see you all out on that road and we’ll have some great rock and roll fun together!”

Aficionados of the 60’s pop classics have cause to rejoice with the return of Gary Lewis & The Playboys. It was the summer of 1964 when Gary Lewis & The Playboys were discovered by producer Snuff Garrett. By the following year, they had a song go straight to the top of the charts called, “This Diamond Ring.” After the second hit titled, “Count Me In,” went to number two, Gary and the band proved they would be a continued success. They followed with more Top 10 songs such as “Save Your Heart for Me,” “Everybody Loves A Clown,” “She’s Just My Style,” “Sure Gonna Miss Her” and many more (seven in all). In 1965, Gary, himself, was Cash Box magazine’s “Male Vocalist of the Year,” winning the honor over other nominees Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra. He was the first and only artist during the 1960’s to have his first seven releases reach Billboard magazine’s Top 10 on the Hot 100 chart. Still going strong, Gary released a new single last year titled, “You Can’t Go Back.”

For the second consecutive year, ten Belmont University students will be joining “Professor Flo,” Mark Volman, for an invaluable experience on the road in their own tour bus for approximately two weeks of the Happy Together Tour beginning June 14 in Clearwater, Florida.

Under the guidance of Volman — a founding member of The Turtles and Curb College professor of Entertainment Industry Studies — the students will be working with the artists on tour and crew professionals in the area of tour management, stage management, audio engineering, tour accounting and merchandise sales This will be in addition to learning the process of loading in, setting up, breaking down and loading out.

“This is a unique and wonderful experience for all of us,” comments Volman. “The students get a chance to see and experience first-hand what life on the road is really all about… We like to think of it as the Rock and Roll Reality Tour.”

Come on out, join the fun and imagine how the world could be, so very fine… so Happy Together!

QUEENSRYCHE’S “FREQUENCY UNKNOWN” DUE OUT APRIL 23rd ON DEADLINE MUSIC/CLEOPATRA RECORDS

March 6, 2013

QUEENSRYCHE’S THIRTEENTH STUDIO ALBUM TITLED “FREQUENCY UNKNOWN”
TO BE RELEASED VIA DEADLINE MUSIC/CLEOPATRA RECORDS ON APRIL 23 AND FEATURE
TEN NEW SONGS, REMAKES OF FOUR IMMENSELY POPULAR HITS AND AN ARRAY
OF GUEST STARS INCLUDING CHRIS POLAND, DAVE MENIKETTI, BRAD GILLIS,
TY TABOR, K.K. DOWNING, PAUL BOSTAPH AND CRAIG LOCICERO

The year is 2013 and revolution is calling once again for Queensryche front man Geoff Tate, who is leading the charge with the band’s forthcoming studio effort titled, Frequency Unknown, due out April 23 on Deadline Music/Cleopatra Records.

Although “F.U.” might be perceived as a fitting tribute and salutation, it is, without question, a no-holds barred album of new music featuring original Queensryche vocalist Geoff Tate along with an entirely new line-up consisting of bassist Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot/Ozzy Osbourne/Whitesnake/Dio/Blue Oyster Cult), guitarist Robert Sarzo (Hurricane), drummer Simon Wright (AC/DC/Dio), guitarist Kelly Gray (Queensryche 1998 – 2001) and keyboardist Randy Gane (Myth).

For Frequency Unknown, Tate and company invited a few of their friends to come join in on the recording “fun” for what will mark Queensryche’s thirteenth studio album.

The result?

An album containing ten new hard-hitting, distinctively Queensryche songs, four newly-recorded Queensryche classics and an array of well-known guests including guitarists Chris Poland (Megadeth), Dave Meniketti (Y&T), Brad Gillis (Night Ranger), Ty Tabor (King’s X), K.K. Downing (Judas Priest), Craig Locicero (Forbidden) and Chris Cannella along with drummers Paul Bostaph (Slayer/Testament) and Evan Bautista.

Also appearing on the album will be bassist Jason Slater, who has worked on several previous Queensryche projects with Tate including Operation: Mindcrime II and American Soldier.

Slater co-wrote some of the songs on Frequency Unknown with Geoff Tate and is also the album’s Producer.

“I think that the idea of having guest appearances evolved from the time constraints we had imposed on the project,” states Tate. “And I must say that I was humbled by the enthusiasm and excitement of all the players that contributed.”

Frequency Unknown Track Listing

Cold

Bonus Tracks

Although times have changed for Geoff Tate, his hard rock wavelength, as represented on Frequency Unknown, remains the same.

With Geoff at the helm, Queensryche has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide, toured in approximately 50 countries and received four Grammy nominations.

He remains one of the most well-known and respected vocalists in the history of hard rock and heavy metal.

Frequency Unknown.

Coincidental abbreviation?

Unlikely.

Fun for all metal heads to sink their teeth into?

Definitely.

Feel free to feast.

Please note: Beginning on April 6th at the Peppermill Casino in West Wenover, Nevada, the band will be hitting the road to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of its epic 1988 release, Operation: Mindcrime. The performance will include all fifteen songs from the album (including “Revolution Calling,” “Operation: Mindcrime,” I Don’t Believe in Love” and “Eyes of a Stranger”) along with other well-known hits and rarities from the catalog they’ve compiled over the past 30 years (see current tour itinerary below).

Operation: Mindcrime was recently named one of the Top 10 Concept Albums of All Time by Guitar World magazine.

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS THIRD BASE COACH TIM FLANNERY SELLS OUT ALL FOUR BENEFIT CONCERTS FOR BRYAN STOW! We enjoyed being a part of it and ask that everyone continue to support Bryan on his road ahead.

January 15, 2013

TIM FLANNERY – LONGTIME THIRD BASE COACH FOR THE
WORLD SERIES CHAMPION SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS —
TO HOST AND PERFORM WITH BAND AT BENEFIT CONCERTS IN
REDWOOD CITY, MILL VALLEY, NAPA AND SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA
FOR INJURED FAN BRYAN STOW ON JANUARY 24, 25, 26 AND 27

Longtime San Francisco Giants third base coach, Tim Flannery (www.timflannery.com), has organized four more benefit concerts for Giants fan Bryan Stow who was critically injured when he was attacked in the Dodger Stadium parking lot after the season opener for the teams in late March 2011.

The initial concert will take place on Thursday, January 24, at the Fox Theatre in Redwood City, California with the three subsequent concerts occurring at the Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California on Friday, January 25 , The Uptown Theatre in Napa, California on Saturday, January 26 and Kuumbwa Jazz in Santa Cruz, California on Sunday, January 27 (please see links below for info on each).

The shows will feature Tim — who has performed with such rock notables as Bob Weir, Willie Nelson, Jackson Browne, Jimmy Buffett, Merle Haggard, Jackie Greene and others over the years — along with his band, The Lunatic Fringe and special musical guests.

The coach, former player and broadcaster thought his music would be the best way to help Bryan and his family.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now with VIP packages available for most.

All proceeds will be going to the Stow Foundation.

Bryan Stow — a proud father of two, a paramedic and huge fan of the San Francisco Giants — is on the road to recovery and making progress.

He sustained severe injuries to his brain and was placed into a medically induced coma after the incident.

It would be months before he would go outside.

Since the tragedy, he has amassed a fan club of his own including Tim, home run king Barry Bonds, two-time Cy Young Award-winning pitcher Tim Lincecum and the entire San Francisco Giants organization.

It wasn’t long before Flannery got involved in fundraising efforts and, through a few concert performances and DVD sales of a show, he has generated almost $70,000 for the cause.

His efforts haven’t gone unnoticed as Phil Lesh and Bob Weir (founding members of the Grateful Dead) named Tim as their Sports Illustrated “Sportsman of the Year” last year (see http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/magazine/sportsman/11/27/Tim-Flannery-Phil-Lesh-Bob-Weir/index.html).

“Flan” continues his mission with the four shows this month.

On October 25, 2012, the world became a little brighter as Bryan attended Game 2 of the World Series at AT&T Park (Giants vs. Tigers).

We ask that you help spread the word and heighten the awareness of the forthcoming performances.

LINE-UP FOR FORTHCOMING CD AND 25TH ANNIVERSARY MINDCRIME TOUR NOW SET
IN STONE WITH ADDITION OF DRUMMER SIMON WRIGHT AND GUITARIST ROBERT SARZO

QUEENSRYCHE — featuring original lead singer GEOFF TATE at the helm — have just signed a worldwide record deal with Los Angeles-based independent record label, Cleopatra Records.

Although a line-up was originally announced in the fall of 2012, things have changed.

The band will now feature GEOFF TATE along with bassist RUDY SARZO (Ozzy/Dio/Whitesnake/Quiet Riot), guitarist KELLY GRAY (Queensryche 1998 – 2001), keyboardist RANDY GANE and stellar new additions, guitarist ROBERT SARZO (Hurricane) and drummer SIMON WRIGHT (AC/DC /Dio/Dio Disciples/UFO).

WRIGHT takes over for previously announced drummer BOBBY BLOTZER, who will be returning to RATT as an integral part of the band that made him famous.

“I’m very much looking forward to being involved in the Queensryche project with Geoff,” states SIMON WRIGHT. “I’ve always admired his singing and songwriting and working with Rudy Sarzo again is going to be cool! Between this and my other project, Dio Disciples, I look forward to a very busy year!”

QUEENSRYCHE, with all members cited above, will soon be entering the studio for the first Cleopatra effort due out later this year.

The recording will mark the band’s thirteenth studio album and its first with this particular line-up.

Legendary guitar slinger K.K. DOWNING of Judas Priest fame will be making a special guest appearance on the forthcoming CD as will King’s X guitarist TY TABOR and RATT drummer BOBBY BLOTZER.

TY TABOR comments, “I’m very happy that Geoff considered me for this record. It will be great to play with all of these great musicians.”

Beginning in early April, QUEENSRYCHE will be hitting the road to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the band’s epic 1988 release, Operation: Mindcrime, performing all fifteen songs from the album (including “Revolution Calling,” “Operation: Mindcrime,” “I Don’t Believe in Love” and “Eyes of a Stranger”) along with other well-known hits and rarities from the catalog they’ve compiled over the past 30 years (see list of scheduled dates below).

“I try to surround myself with the best players available and feel our longtime fans deserve nothing less,” says long time QUEENSRYCHE front man GEOFF TATE. “I expect the forthcoming effort to be one of our best yet.”

Last November, TATE released his first solo CD in over a decade titled, Kings & Thieves (InsideOut Music) and toured with his solo band in support of the CD, which included dates with the legendary Alice Cooper.

GARY U.S BONDS TO HEADLINE LIGHT OF DAY FOUNDATION SHOW IN NYC ON JANUARY 16

ROCK AND ROLL LEGEND GARY U.S. BONDS HEADLINES FIRST-EVER
LIGHT OF DAY FOUNDATION SHOW AT HARD ROCK NEW YORK ON WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 16, 2013

Concert at Hard Rock Cafe New York Features Additional Performances by
Willie Nile, the Liza Colby Sound and Joe D’Urso & Stone Caravan

Rock and roll legend Gary U.S. Bonds and his band, The Roadhouse Rockers, headline the Light of Day Foundation’s first-ever show at the iconic Hard Rock Cafe New York in Times Square on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. Additional performances include Willie Nile, the Liza Colby Sound and Joe D’Urso & Stone Caravan. Proceeds from the show benefit the Light of Day Foundation (www.lightofday.org), which funds research into possible cures, improved treatments and support for patients who suffer from Parkinson’s disease and other neuromuscular disorders. Proceeds from show will also go to Team Fox, the grassroots community fundraising program at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

The New York show kicks off an extended weekend of Light of Day concerts that include more than 20 events in Asbury Park, New Jersey from January 17 through January 21, 2013. Vincent Pastore, who played Sal Bonpensiero on the HBO hit show, The Sopranos, is hosting the Hard Rock Cafe New York show along with radio disc jockey Rich Russo, whose free-form show, “Anything, Anything,” airs weekly on 107.1 The Peak in Westchester County and 105.5 WDHA in northern New Jersey.

Bonds first rose to prominence in the early 1960s, when his song, “Quarter to Three,” released in June 1961, reached Number 1 on the Billboard chart. Bonds’ other Top 10 hits at the time included “New Orleans,” “School is Out” and “Dear Lady Twist.” He headlined a 1963 European tour, which also included The Beatles.

In the early 1980s, Bonds had a career resurgence when he collaborated with Little Steven Van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen for the albums Dedication and On the Line. His comeback song, “This Little Girl,” hit Number 5 on the rock chart in 1981. Bonds has been a dedicated supporter of Light of Day for many years and has appeared at various Light of Day events in the U.S. and Canada.

Gary recently released a Christmas CD titled, Christmas is ON!, over the holidays and his new book, By U.S. Bonds: That’s My Story is slated to come out early this year.

Singer-songwriter Willie Nile’s last three albums, Streets of New York, House of a Thousand Guitars and The Innocent Ones have received great critical acclaim. His hometown paper, The Buffalo News, called the three albums, “three of the finest recordings to ever straddle the worlds of singer-songwriter fare and good ol’ street-tough rock n’roll.” A long-time Light of Day favorite, Nile is known for his scintillating live performances.

Joe D’Urso is a singer-songwriter “blessed with one of those unmistakable whisky-tainted Asbury Park, New Jersey voices that makes the story in every song come alive,” according to a show review by Paul M. Sinclair. D’Urso and his band Stone Caravan have been part of Light of Day since its start 13 years ago. D’Urso serves on the board of directors of LOD.

Liza Colby formed her current band in 2009, combining her own original style with influences from the late 1960s, early 1970s and the British Invasion. Colby describes her sound as “rockin’ soul” that will make you get up and dance!

$25 for general admission and $75 for a seated VIP ticket, available through Ticketweb at www.ticketweb.com.

GARY U.S. BONDS ROCKS THE HOLIDAY SEASON WITH RELEASE OF “CHRISTMAS IS ON!”

GARY U.S. BONDS ROCKS THE HOLIDAY SEASON
WITH RELEASE OF VERY FIRST FULL-LENGTH
CHRISTMAS CD TITLED, “CHRISTMAS IS ON!”

GARY US. BONDS AND SPECIAL GUESTS
TO PERFORM CHRISTMAS SHOW AT THE STRAND THEATRE
IN LAKEWOOD, NEW JERSEY ON NOVEMBER 29
AS PART OF “RESTORE THE SHORE” CONCERT SERIES

More than 50 years after he first hit the music scene, Gary U.S. Bonds proves that he can still rock with the best of ’em by releasing his very first full-length Christmas CD titled, Christmas is ON!

The disc — which will be officially released on Tuesday, November 27 via G.L.A. Records — features ten tracks including three originals written by Gary and his daughter, Laurie: “We Wish You A Merry Christmas,” “Christmas Is A Phone Call Away” and “Santa Bring My Baby Home To Me.”

Christmas is ON! also includes the Irving Berlin classic, “White Christmas” and the holiday season staple, “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” along with eight other numbers that celebrate the spirit of the holidays.

Christmas is a time to be spent with family and friends and with this new release, Gary U.S. Bonds shares his musical gifts and brings the party.

“I love a good time had by all and what better way to spread the good cheer than release a Christmas CD full of music to get your feet moving and your spirits lifted,” states Bonds, the legendary master of good time party sounds. “All I can say is that it’s been 45 years since I recorded a Christmas song and thought that it was about time to do it again. I really enjoyed making this album.”

Christmas is ON! finds Gary sharing production chores with his daughter, Laurie (“Lil’ Mama”), who is also a featured vocalist on the album alongside her mother and Gary’s wife, Laurie.

The collection of cuts is a tasty assortment of Christmas old, Christmas new, Christmas borrowed and Christmas blue.

“We Wish You A Merry Christmas” simply brings the house down capturing the essence, energy, spirit and style of Bonds.

“Baby, Baby It’s Christmas” is a rare, unplugged anthem to the holidays that highlights Gary soaring above a chorus of strings, treating the elegant lyric like an old friend who’s dropped in to remind us all about what’s really important this time of year.

Of course, no Bonds effort is complete without an up-tempo party sound or two and the “Christmas Is On” title track easily fills the wish list along with the sly, “Christmas Is A Phone Call Away,” which calls to mind The Coasters classic, “Shoppin’ For Clothes,” done Bo Diddley style.

“It’s Christmas In Nu Awlins” is a solid second line stomp in familiar territory for Gary, who then takes us further down south from the Crescent City to parts near Montego Bay and shows that his Caribbean repertoire includes both calypso and reggae beats.

On Thursday, November 29, Gary U.S. Bonds and Special Guests will be performing hits, rarities and new Christmas songs at The Strand Theatre in Lakewood, New Jersey (www.strand.org) as part of the venue’s “Restore The Shore” concert series, in what promises to be an unforgettable night of music.

The following week, on Tuesday, December 4 at 6:00pm eastern, Gary will be appearing at J&R Music World (located at 23 Park Row in New York City – www.jr.com), where he’ll performing a few songs from the Christmas is ON! CD, and personally signing copies for fans in attendance.

This will culminate another busy year for Gary, who has nine Top 40 hits, five Top 10’s and a number one song — the immensely successful 1961 million-selling single, “Quarter to Three” — under his belt.

Although Bruce Springsteen has been known to play Gary’s biggest hit, “Quarter to Three,” on occasion, The Boss (who’s been a friend now for well over 30 years…) recently invited Gary up on stage at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey on September 21 to join him and the E Street Band on “Jole Blon” and “This Little Girl,” two hits made famous by Gary, the latter of which was written by Springsteen.

It was the first performance of “This Little Girl” by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band since 1981 and only the third of “Jole Blon,” making it a truly special evening.

In addition to Gary’s new CD, he’s in the final stages of his forthcoming memoir, By U.S. Bonds: That’s My Story, due out early next year on Wheatley Press.

But first things, first… CHRISTMAS IS ON!

It makes no difference if you’ve been naughty or nice this year as Santa Gary is coming down your chimney to start your party and he’s not leaving until he’s had a good cup of cheer and a slow dance with your sister.

Put down your egg nog and move your feet… the sounds of Gary U.S. Bonds this holiday season are hard to beat!

QUEENSRYCHE ANNOUNCES DATES FOR 25th ANNIVERSARY OPERATION: MINDCRIME TOUR 2013

QUEENSRYCHE TO EMBARK ON
25TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR OF BAND’S EPIC RELEASE,
OPERATION: MINDCRIME, WITH NEWLY ANNOUNCED LINE-UP

MINDCRIME TOUR BEGINNING IN SPRING 2013 TO FEATURE
ALL FIFTEEN SONGS OF ALBUM ALONG WITH
SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCES AND SURPRISES

Further laying down the gauntlet and keeping the music he’s created over the past three decades alive, Queensryche vocalist and founding member Geoff Tate will be taking the newly-announced line-up on the road next year to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the band’s epic 1988 release, Operation: Mindcrime.

The tour — with dates slated to begin in April (see below) — will feature the arsenal of bassist Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne/Quiet Riot/Whitesnake/Dio), drummer Bobby Blotzer (Ratt), guitarist Kelly Gray (Queensryche/Myth) and keyboardist Randy Gane (Myth) along with special guest appearances and plenty of surprises.

“It’s great to be performing with all of these guys who have been true friends for years,” comments Geoff. “Kelly, Randy and I formed Myth more than 30 years ago and I’ve known Rudy and Bobby for several years as well. I think we are all inspired by the collaboration and couldn’t be more excited to bring it to our fans next year.”

In 2006, Queensryche brought the theatrical interpretation of the Mindcrime saga to audiences all over the world.

A year later, the band would release Mindcrime at the Moore, a double DVD featuring the theatrical performances of both Operation: Mindcrime I & II albums that debuted at #1 on the Billboard Music DVD Chart.

The DVD set would mark the band’s first #1 chart debut, quickly achieving gold status, selling over 50,000 units.

The performance of Operation: Mindcrime next spring will cover all fifteen songs from the album including such fan favorites as “Revolution Calling,” “Operation: Mindcrime,” “I Don’t Believe in
Love,” and the closing track, “Eyes of a Stranger.”

It will also feature other selections from the Queensryche catalog including songs from Operation: Mindcrime II.

The news of the 25th Anniversary Mindcrime Tour comes just a few weeks after Tate’s eagerly-awaited sophomore solo release, Kings & Thieves, was released on InsideOut Music (11/6/12).

His first solo release in more than a decade, Kings & Thieves is a journey into the mind of one of rock’s most dynamic vocalists.

“My goal with this record was to make a solid rock album,” says Tate. “I wanted it to be an album that I could play live that would be both satisfying and fun because, as a singer, you need to create a show that has a lot of dynamics to it and takes people on a ride.”

Hang on to your seats.

It’s been said that “a rolling stone gathers no moss,” and that couldn’t be more true of Tate, as he hit the ground running in mid-October for an intensive trek of tour dates in support of Kings & Thieves, expected to last throughout the year.

Among the highlights of the current tour were several Canadian dates with the legendary Alice Cooper earlier this month.
